On the other hand, Jacobus states that there are "Hurds of Woodbury, Conn. and Sandgate, Vt. descending from Joseph Hurd (1665/6-1751) and Benjamin Hurd (1666/7-1754), chiefly from the latter who had seven sons and one daughter" (TAG 30:1, p. 10).

Andrew Johnson served in Captain James Fry's company in the expedition against Crown Point in 1756. Research Analysis: According to James T. Snow : Several good sources, including Vital Records of Massachusetts, say that Bernice Johnson was born in Westford, Middlesex, MA. Yet there is no mention in the Westford Vital Records of a Bernice Johnson being born, nor in the records of any town in Middlesex county or nearby counties. There is a Jonathan Johnson in the Westford birth records who appears to have had several children of the generation of Bernice. I'm guessing that she was one of his children due to the consistency of the aforementioned sources, and the fact that Jonathan had a daughter named Arathusa, who would have been the sister of Bernice. Bernice's first daughter was named Arethusa, and there are no Arethusas in the Gould side of the family. This arguement will have to suffice until more compelling evidence arises. (James T. Snow). Bernice Johnson was born on 27 August 1768 at Westford, Massachusetts.1 She was the daughter of Jonathan Johnson and Sarah Bates.2,3 Bernice Johnson married Eli Gould, son of Samuel Gould and Sarah Gilbert, on 3 March 1790 at Heath, Franklin, Massachusetts.4,5 Bernice Johnson died after 10 July 1820.6

John Johnson was born say 1590 at England.1 He married Mary Heath, daughter of William Heath, on 21 September 1613 at Ware, Hertfordshire, England.2 John Johnson was constable of Roxbury in 1630. He was deputy to the General Court in over 30 sessions between 1634 and 1659. He was Clerk of the Ancient and Honourable Artillery Company 1638-40, surveyor general of arms 1641-59, and received a colonial grant of 300 acres for his services.1 John Johnson servered as quartermaster. On 8 September 1642, e was assigned the duty of distributing the gunpowder to the major towns in the colony "taking into serious consideration the present danger of each plantation by the desperate plots & conspiracies of the heathen".2 John Johnson died on 30 September 1659 at Roxbury, Massachusetts.1
