Wilbur Samuel Gould married Edna Earle Davison, daughter of Sidney Walton Davison and Lovenia Coefield Raffety, on 24 December 1892 at Winthrop, Iowa. [Description from Ruth Gould in letter of September 22, 1958] 'Dad's hair was dark, not black, but dark before it turned gray. However, his mustache was red. Once when he had been working in Minnesota and Mother and we children were living in Deep River, he returned home with a beard. Earl and Ralph had gone to meet him, aboutt seven and five years old. They saw this man get off the train with a thin, straggly red beard (Mother's description) and hid behind trees, following him home by dodging from tree to tree. You can guess the sequel. His first act after getting into the house was to shave.' Wilbur Samuel Gould died on 5 May 1944 at Des Moines, Iowa, at age 83. |
