William Wilbur married Elizabeth Smith on 23 February 1804.1 William Wilbur died on 30 September 1854 at age 71.1 He Probably the William Wilbur referred to on p. 258 of Child's Gazetteer of Berkshire Co., Mass: 'William Wilbur came to this town about 1800, located upon the farm now owned by his grandson, L.S. Wilbur, rearing a large family. His son, Smith, was born in town in 1804, and resided here until his death in 1879. Two of his children, Mrs. Emily Ballou, of Adams, and L.S., residing in this town, on road 20, survive'.2

         Research Analysis: This seems highly likely to be the daughter of the Joseph Wilson who married Mary Swett (see Swett Genealogy), and therefore sister of Gowen, Joseph, and Nathaniel (see Stackpole's Old Kittery), who were all living in Columbia, ME and having children at roughly the same time Phebe and Joseph Patten were (see Columbia, ME Town records). Note that W.G. Davis identifies her as the daughter of Joseph Wilson in his Patten genealogy. Phebe Wilson was born on 23 January 1775 at Columbia, Washington, Maine.1,2 She was the daughter of Joseph Wilson and Mary Swett.2,3 Phebe Wilson Died when her 15th child was born. Wilson family was of English descent and reputedly had a coat of arms.4 She married Joseph Patten, son of Capt. Hans Patten and Abigail Littlefield, say 1793 at Columbia, Washington, Maine.2
