Joshua Bragdon's company of militia which marched to Cambridge in response to the alarm of April 19, 1775. He was also 1st lieutenant in Capt. Daniel Littlefield's company, Col. Ebenezer Sayer's (1st Yorkshire) regiment of Eastern Militia, the officers being commissioned by orders in council June 25, 1776. From May 19 to July 17, 1777, he served in Rhode Island as lieutenant of Capt. Abel Moulton's company, Col. Jonathan Titcomb's regiment, and on June 3, 1779, he was commissioned a captain of the 2d company in Col. Edward Grow's regiment of Massachusetts militia."1 Capt. Hans Patten died on 1 April 1828 at Wells, York, Maine, at age 92.

Jane Patten's mother was a Wilson of English descent and the family had a Coat of Arms of which Aunt Lib had a photograph. She died when her 15th child was born, poor thing! Joseph Patten Davis writes: "In Columbia tradition states that Joseph Patten had thirteen children when he left the town, probably an exaggeration. As town clerk he recorded only four, but their were undoubtedly others born in Columbia, and at least one is said to have been born in Centerville." Note that this correlates well with Anna Patten Hayne's note on his wife Phebe: "She died when her 15th child was born, poor thing!"1,2 "He was a justice of the peace in Columbia and the town's first town clerk. Esther Perkins was born on 30 September 1695 at Wenham, Massachusetts.1 She was the daughter of John Perkins and Mary Fiske.1 Esther Perkins has also been reported to have been born 24 October 1695 Wenham, Massachusetts.2 A marriage intention for Esther Perkins and Benjamin Gilbert was recorded on 21 July 1716 at Wenham, Massachusetts.3 Esther Perkins and Benjamin Gilbert were married by Rev. Samuel Wigglesworth on 9 August 1716 at Ipswich, Massachusetts.4 Esther Perkins married Benjamin Gilbert, son of John Gilbert and Elizabeth Kilham, on 19 August 1716 at Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts.5,6 Esther Perkins is also reported to have married an unknown person on 26 July 1716.2 She died on 20 January 1780 at possibly, Brookfield, Massachusetts, at age 84.7

Jacob Perkins great (7) grandfather of Calvin Coolidge, 30th President, through daughter Judith and great (6) grandfather of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 32nd President, through son Jabez.1 He was baptized on 12 September 1624 at Hillmorton, Warwickshire, England.2 He was the son of John Perkins and Judith Gater. Jacob Perkins married Elizabeth Whipple circa 1648 at Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts.3,4 He was sworn Freeman in 1660, was a sergeant in the Ipswich train-band, and very frequent choice as juryman. In 1668, Mehitable Brabrook, a 16-year-old servant of Elizabeth Perkins, started a fire that burned his house to the ground. By October a new house was being built. This house was struck by lightning in 1671, but both Jacob and the house survived.2 Jacob Perkins died on 27 January 1699/0 at Ipswich, Essex, Massachusetts, at age 75.2
